Christy N. Horowitz is a founding member of Ganschow & Horowitz and started her career in the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office as the law clerk for the prosecution on the criminal matter of the People vs. Michael J. Jackson. After earning her Juris Doctorate from Santa Barbara College of Law in 2007, she joined the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney where she prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases involving crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, child molestation, child abuse, driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, vehicular manslaughter and drug offenses. She saw many of those cases successfully through jury trial and is an accomplished trial lawyer.
Since entering into private practice with an emphasis in criminal law in 2015, she has also handled matters involving family law, personal injury and mediation utilizing her compassionate problem solving skills for her clients when warranted and fierce advocacy in the courtroom when necessary.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama in 2002 where she earned her degree in Communication Studies and was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Paper Award for Administrative Sciences. She has lived in Santa Barbara over 20 years and has participated in the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Program, served as an assistant coach for the Santa Barbara High Schools Mock Trial Team, and volunteered for the Santa Barbara Food Bank and CADA. She is the proud mom of two wonderful daughters.
